This week it’s time to meet Nelly Taveras, a certificate Miami wedding planner. Follow the interview below to know more about Nelly.
1. Why Did You Get Started in This Business? How Long Ago?
I started in 2014 as soon as I got my certification I was blessed with the opportunity to do my internship with my mentor Jessica Estrada from Jessica’s Events. My passion for this industry started very early watching David Tutera’s shows. After that, I planned my own quinceañera… now I’m here.
2. How Was it at the Beginning?
The beginning will either make you or break you, there is a lot of attention to detail, long hours, stress and a lot more included. For sure you will know if you are meant to do events after you handle the first one. After 2 years I’m sure this is what I want to do until my body allows me.
3. Tell About Your Background Before This.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, I’ve been in the hospitality industry since 2004. It goes hand in hand with the event planning industry, the knowledge collected from previous experiences has helped a lot when it comes to the way I approach my events.
4. How Did You Become Successful or Bootstrapped?
The success I’ve had I will say that comes from my passion for the industry, and that shows in my events. The satisfaction on my couple’s faces seeing what we have been planning for months become a reality…
5. What Do you Sell?
I’m a Wedding and Event planner and coordinator. Also, I’m preparing myself to be an Event Designer. I offer: Day of coordination, Partial Planning and Full wedding planning. I am a certified Wedding and Event Coordinator through Miami Dade College (LWPI) soon to be a Certified Event Designer, as well I do flowers.
6. How Many Weddings Do You Do a Year?
For my own events, I will do an average of 14 to 16 weddings per year, since I freelance with other companies I can work approx. 30 per year
7. What Makes Your Product Unique?
My attention to detail is key, I’m a perfectionist. I always will put myself in the shoes of my clients and until I’m not happy how something looks I won’t rest until is perfect!
8. What is The Most Important Thing in Your Product?
The relationship I develop with my clients shows in the final product, communication and details are everything for me.
9. Who Are You? Bio, Kids, Husband, Passions and Hobbies.
I am married, no kids yet. I am a Dominican girl that has been living in Miami since 2009. I love the beach, nature, tattoos (I have 7 so far). As hobbies I love going to any store where they have event décor, always looking for inspiration.
10. The Best Moments?
The best moments for me are: the look of the groom face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle and the reveal of the room, all those dreams coming together and the expression in their faces is everything to me. Also with my best moments, I was able to meet the two personalities that have inspired me all this timeDavid Tutera and Preston Bailey.
11. If Clients Want to Hire You, What is The Process?
They can send me an email, with basic information: date, location, guest count approx. and budget. We can schedule a meeting to discuss a little more about their vision and we will take it from there.
